What a wonderful day at Pendrell Hall! With a rustic church ceremony, some dappled light, a charming young couple and a full welsh male voice choir, this was truly a day to remember.
While this is a wedding venue where you can get ready and hold both your wedding ceremony and your wedding reception Emily and Tomos had decided to tie the knot at All Saints' Church, Lapley around 15 minutes away. All saints is a beautiful medieval church situated in rolling fields and lush woodland of the Staffordshire countryside, made all the more beautiful on this occasion by the turning autumn leaves.
We were lucky too because the weather held out, with mild temperatures and some lovely late autumn sunshine. That is until later, during the party, when the rain chucked it down. But by then of course, everyone was too busy dancing and having fun to worry about it.
This was not my first time as a Pendrell Hall Wedding Photographer, but it was my first time offering a combined package of both wedding photography and wedding videography there. Shooting both wedding video and wedding photos s a challenge that many uk wedding photographers try and take on but in reality few succeed. For me, it is a whole lot easier because I started out in weddings as a wedding videographer, and also because of my background filming and directing tv for so many years. So when it comes to all those key moments, I know not just creatively what to do to get, for example, a great couple portrait shot and but also simultaneously, how to film those moments to get the best from my couple. It’s about logistics and experience as much as it is about creativity.
But what it’s also about is the people and the chemistry. From the moment I started chatting with Emily and Tomos I knew we would hit it off. In fact it’s true of all my couples. I deliberately only shoot a select number of weddings per year, i don’t pack them in. The chemistry needs to be right between you and your wedding photographer or wedding videographer.
With these guys though, I’m sure the chemistry would always be right, as they and their friends and family were brilliant; warm, kind, funny and fun and full of love and joy. An amazing day at an amazing wedding venue with amazing people.

Chanel and Richard spent their whole wedding day at Pendrell Hall, from prep to party, and I can honestly say the fun didnt let up once the whole time.
This was my first time shooting a wedding film at Pendrell Hall, a fantastic country house wedding venue in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. The venue is really flexible in terms of ceremony choices, whether in the oak-panelled morning room that can accommodate up to 120 guests, or outdoors in the stunning grounds, or indeed if you want to hold that part of your day somewhere else. Some prefer to get ready here, head off to church for a ceremony, and back here for a big knees-up in the ballroom, which can host up to 170 guests. There are so many great spaces within the building, and there is the secret garden and other pretty nooks and spaces for romantic wedding photography couple portrait sessions.
As a wedding videographer, you’re only as good as your couple, and these guys, as you will see from the film, were just mega stars. But wedding videography isn’t all roses, and there is another set of people we rely on to make the day really go smoothly, and that is the venue organisers and co ordinators. And here at Pendrell Hall, they are second to none, always there to help, super friendly and ensuring that the day runs smoothly and everyone is okay.

Well these guys were just fabulous.
Working alongside the always excellent Paul Willetts Photography, probably the best Worcesteshire wedding photographer out there, always means having fun and going the extra mile. But it takes a great couple for everyone to have fun, and Arabella and Dominic were all about keeping things relaxed and fun.
The award-winning country house and barns that comprise Blakelands itself is what you would call a perfect wedding venue. The staff are easy-going and helpful, the atmosphere is chilled and welcoming, and the venue itself is just lovely. There are lots of lovely areas and nooks for intimate wedding couple portrait photography, from the lovely 19th century exterior of the house, to the historic walled gardens, paddocks, orchards, lakes and barns. You couldnt take a bad wedding photo here if you tried. Well maybe you could. We couldnt. As Arabella and Dominic’s wedding videographer I was as always mindful to try and go the extra mile to create a memorable full-length wedding film. I work discretely and quickly, always careful to let the wedding photographer have priority. But with these guys, and with Paul, as with so many of my couples and collaborators, everyone made time so that we could get all those shots.
The wedding ceremony itself was outdoors, which is always lovely. Provided the sun comes out, of course, which on this occasion it did, along with Mr Blue Sky. The speeches were hilarious and nice and short, which puts everyone in a good mood, and the party was a proper banger, which is a double win, because if everyone is having a good time, you can be sure your wedding photographer and your wedding videographer are likely to stay on a little bit longer and grab even more photos and videos of the wedding party.
Because, after all, surely if nothing else, your wedding day should be fun, right? And these guys, as well as being lovely people with lovely friends and family, were absolutely the very definition of fun. Congratulations guys!

Now this was one amazing day to capture, with two very special people. Sam and Jose’s elaborate yet relaxed same sex wedding began with double groom prep at Jose’s family home, followed by a lovely drive through Warwickshire countryside to the venue. And oh, what a venue. Let’s just spend some time discussing the venue, because Compton Verney is a dream come true for a Warwickshire wedding videographer!
The building is a Grade 1 listed house built in 1714 which was remodelled with the interiors redesigned by Robert Adam in the 1760s. It is set in more than 120 acres (0.49 km2) of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown . The art gallery houses collections that include Neapolitan art from 1600 to 1800; Northern European medieval art and British portraits including those of Henry VIII and Elizabeth 1 .
But the chapel, oh the chapel. To be a wedding photographer or a wedding videographer shooting in the Grade 1 Capability Brown Chapel is to see light, space, and indeed sound, maximised to perfection.
A short walk from the main house, the beautifully restored interior ‘s intricate plaster and marble-work adorn the ceiling and walls, all painted white, while large windows fill the space with natural light. The chapel has been licensed to hold civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 100 guests.
After the lovely, touching same sex ceremony, we strolled the lovely grounds to capture some wedding couple portrait photography and videography, as well as the formal group shot photographs, with the house providing a luxuriant backdrop for both.
Then it was onto Sam’s parent’s house, with yet another gorgeous country drive for a tipi reception and party, complete with Flamenco dancing!
A long, but truly wonderful day spent with amazing people in the most beautiful of locations!
